║ GT-HELP ║ GTDOORS.BBS - the Door Menu as seen by your callers.
╚═════════╩════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
The GTDOORS.BBS file lists the available doors as seen by callers.
It is pure text and can be prepared in any format. The simplest format
just lists the door numbers and purpose, for example :
<1> Change your Password
<2> Chess
<3> Scrabble
<4>
... etc.
As the layout of the list has no significance to GT, it could equally
well be presented as a double column.
A .CBS version of this file can also be created. If it exists, ANSI
callers will see GTDOORS.CBS rather than GTDOORS.BBS.
There is no automatic mechanism for asking GT to 'leave out' lines to
this file depending on caller access level. Callers normally either
see this file in its entirety (if they have Door Permission) or not at
all. It *is* possible, though, to run a program in the Log-On Door
which creates a customised GTDOORS.BBS file determined by the access
level of the caller. Various programs of that type already exist -
other local GT boards may have one available for download.

│ Door sub-menus │
└────────────────┘
GT will support up to 999 doors. If you use more than about 20 doors,
it will often make sense to use door sub-menus. In this case, the
GTDOORS.BBS will usually list only the door sub-menus, for example :
G. Game Doors
D. Database Doors
U. Utility Doors
though there is no reason why the main door menu should not also list
some numeric doors if you wish it to.
GT can support 26 door sub-menus, identified as A to Z. Callers
selecting one of these sub-menus will then see a list of doors
appropriate to that classification.
Notes: a) Using door sub-menus does not prevent callers who know a
door number from calling the door direct, eg O 22 is just
as good as O G 22 if the caller knows in advance that door
22 (which you have listed in sub-menu G) is wanted.
b) The door sub-menus can be edited using another GT-Help menu
option, where more information is available.
